Michael: Hello Todd.

Todd: We're going to talk about Australia. Or you're going to talk about Australia.

Мы поговорим об Австралии. Или (точнее) ты расскажещь об Австралии

So first of all how many people live in Australia?

Прежде всего, сколько народу живёт в Австралии?

Michael: Australia? Oh, there's about twenty million people in Australia right now.

В Австралии? Сейчас в Австралии живёт около 20млн.чел.

A little bit under, but close to twenty.

Немного меньше, но близко к 20млн.

Todd: OK. What are the biggest cities?

ОК. А какие крупнейшие города?

Michael: The biggest city? The biggest city is Sydney, then it's followed by Melbourne and then Brisbane and then I think it's Perth.

Крупнейший город? Крупнейший город - Сидней, затем идёт Мельбурн и затем Брисбен, а потом - по-моему - Перт

But most of the big cities are on the East Coast of Australia. And Perth is on the west coast, but sort of of out there by itself.

И в основном крупнейшие города расположенв на восточном побережье Автсралии. (Только) Перт - на западном побережье, как бы на отшибе

Todd: OK. Um, if you had to live in one place where would you live?

ОК. А если бы пришлось выбирать место для жизни, где бы ты стал жить?

Michael: I like Brisbane. I had my teenage years in Brisbane, growing up in Brisbane, um or maybe Sidney because it is a big city,but Brisbane has got the gold coast and the sunshine.

Мне нравится Брисбен. Подростком я жил в Брисбене, рос там. Ну ещё, может быть, Сидней, потому что это большой город. Но в Брисбене золотой (песчаный) берег и много солнца

Todd: Oh, nice. Actually, what is the capital city of Australia?

О, отлично. А где же столица Австралии?

Michael: Ah, Canberra is the capital city. But is not the biggest city.

Столица - Канберра. Но это не самый большой город

Sydney is the biggest city. Canberra was made sort of by the politicians so Sydney wouldn't get toо crowded. It's a separate territory.

Самый большой город - Сидней. Канберру, можно сказать, построили политики, чтобы Сидней не перенаселять. Она  совсем в другом районе (страны)

Todd: Have you been to all the major cities in Australia?

А ты бывал во всех крупнейших городах Австралии?

Michael:I have been to Melbourne when I was young, but yeah, I have. But yeah. Only a short time in Perth.

В молодости был в Мельбурне... ну да... короткое время в Перте

Todd: OK. What is the best thing about Australia?

ОК. А что в Австралии лучше всего?

Michael: The best thing about Australia? Ah, probably the friendly people.

Лучшего всего в Австралии? А, вероятно, дружелюбный народ

The relaxed attitude, and we like visitors from other cultures.

Все спокойны, не суетятся. И мы рады приезжим из других стран (культур)

Todd: Oh, cool. Ah, how are Australians different than other people? How are they unique?

Это просто отлично. А какие у австралийцев есть особенные черты? Чем они уникальны?

Michael: How are Australians unique? Um, I would say that we're ah more fun-loving maybe or accepting of other people.

Чем уникальны австралийцы? Ну, я бы, наверное, сказал, что мы более весёлые, легче сходимся с людьми

And we don't um mind making new friends and actually and conversing with other people.

И мы не против завести новых друзей и побеседовать с ними

Todd: Yeah, oh yeah that's good. That's nice. OK. Thanks a lot Micheal.
